Day One

This week is going to be interesting, I shall be sewing all this evening to finish off the mini dress I started a while back, I shall hopefully be turning this...

.....in to a short version of this.....

.....I still have a few trimming to buy for it but I'll should be able to finish most of it tonight, tomorrow I shall be doing the work type thing, Wednesday is my interview, Thursday and Friday more work and then I'm off down to the island to visit my Papa for the weekend.

I want to say thank you to everyone for all the advice for my interview outfit, I do really love the red dress (Papa doesn't like the hem of it apparently!) but I've decided to go with the black outfit as I know I feel comfortable in it and thats the last thing I want to be worrying about at the event, well that and sore feet!

I've decided to start the 30 Day Shred again today which I'm kind of dreading because the last two times I've tried it I wasn't able to walk the next day! I've done it before back in August last year and was able to do every day so I know it's possible just need to push through I guess! Fingers crossed I don't ache too much tomorrow.

One of the traditions my family had whilst I was growing up was the Sunday roastie beast every Sunday (funnily enough), we had chicken, pork, beef and a lot of lamb, sometimes pheasant but that was a special treat. I was considering making Shepards Pie for dinner last night but it turns out I'm a traditionlist and ended up making roastie lamb with all the trimmings, very good noms! Do you have any traditions you grew up with that you still stick with now?

Decisions Decisions

Peeps I need your help, I have my final interview on Wednesday and I need to decide what to wear! It's going to be a slightly different type of interview as the candidates have been invited to hostess at a cocktail party and the invitation calls for "Cocktail Chic". I'm thinking one of these outfits but I would like a second/third/fourth opinion please (also this is for Papa as trying to show him, and Mum, over Skype has proven a little difficult, stupid webcam!)....

Outfit 1

Corset: Oasis
Skirt: Wheels & Dollbaby
Necklace: Butler & Wilson
Shoes: Red or Dead

Outfit 2

Dress: Zara
Sash: Topshop
Shoes: Office

Outfit 3

Dress: Trashy Diva
Brooch: Butler & Wilson
Shoes: Red or Dead

Please excuse the hair, make up and grumpy face I'm still feeling a little delicate from this stupid bug, on the night I'm thinking hair up and I might even break out the false eyelashes again! I like Outfit 3 best although I might put on black tights with it, I'm so pale at the moment! I love Outfit 2 but I think it might be more suited to a Spring/Summer party and Outfit 1 is a firm favourite of mine and I've worn it many times before. Herein lies my problem I like all of them so please help! I meant to be looking chic, sophisticated and a little alluring.

According To Plan

This week has not really been going according to plan due to a stupid stomach bug but hey ho these things happen. I did get some great news last night though, I've made it to the final one hundred in the interview process! This is very exciting because they want to hire eighty two people so the odds are pretty good. You know what these means; more finger crossing please people! The next interview is a little different, we're hosting a cocktail party and the invite asks for "Cocktail Chic" so I'll be posting some outfit options this weekend and asking for opinions/advice.

I'm still feeling bleurgh at the moment so no outfit picture today but I have got new nails....
....I really like the sorbet/pastel colours at the moment I just wish I had a bit more of tan to go with them!

My date with Blue Eyed Guy went very well, thankfully my afternoon nap made me feel sooooo much better so I was ready for the evenings festivities. Blue Eyed Guy took me to Fifty Five a great little cocktail bar which has two for one drinks so we got a little tipsy and then we went on for food. Blue Eyed Guy decided against Thai and we went to a local diner instead which did the most amazing all day breakfast, Blue Eyed Guy thought I was a little mad for eating a breakfast at 10pm in the evening but it was so yummy and had hash browns, my favourite.

Duvet Day

So I was meant to have a slighty busier day than expected today. I was off to do an afternoon of promos at a gaming expo before my date with Blue Eyed Guy in the evening but I've been ill all night and have ended up spending the day in bed! Thankfully I've been asleep for most of it as I got no sleep last night so I'm feeling a lot more human now, this is a good thing as I'm still going on my date this evening. Blue Eyed Guy is off on holiday for a week on Saturday so it's tonight or two weeks time.

I'm wearing this little lot this evening.....

Jumper: Topshop
Belt: Warehouse
Jeans: Miss Sixty
Shoes: Office

Blue Eyed Guy is meeting me in Camden and we're going for drinks and then maybe on for Thai food which I've only ever tried twice and it's burnt the roof of my mouth off both times. Blue Eyed Guy has offered to "show me the way" with a Thai menu or kiss me better if it turns out I'm a weed and just can't eat spicy food, as far as I'm concerned either way I'm a winner!

This Week I Shall Be Mostly Eating.....Haggis!

I have another busy week ahead of me....I'm off out for some drinks this evening, worky type things on Tuesday, Wednesday Blue Eyed Guy has planned something that starts in Camden, then a black tie charity dinner for Burns Night on Thursday which is always fun but turns me into a Vegetable Person for the evening (can't be doing with Haggis!) and Friday I shall be doing some more work type things, then Saturday I'm off to deepest, darkest Ipswich to help Tatty celebrate her birthday in style (booze and food are involved)! I must say I am very much looking forward to it as there will be ball gowns, kissing, drinking and best friend seeing involved all of which are very good things.

So for this evening I have decided to wear this little lot....
Dress: Oasis
Belt: Warehouse
Tights: Dorothy Perkins
Boots: Shelleys

I'm actually having to brave the London Underground this evening which is something I haven't had to do for a very long time, I read Fashion Cappuccino's post today and I totally agree with her that cute boys on the tube would make journeys much more enjoyable. Maybe Transport for London should employe one hot boy per carriage for eye candy purposes and cheer us all up on the otherwise rather dull journeys (I also think they should paint the tunnels with scenery so you have something other than your own reflection to look at when you stare out of the window).

Last nights meal for the masses ended up only being for six peeps which was a bit of a disappointment but still more than enough people to wash up after me as I whirlwind through every pot and pan we collectively own! G very kindly brought this amazing and very tasty cake which she had baked earlier on that day...

....how amazing is it?! I shall have to get my baking hat on now, I'm inspired.

Dancing Queens

You know you've had a good night when you wake up and your ears are still ringing, my head feels like it's been stuffed with cotton wool! Also my feet seem to be very sore must have been the excessive amounts of dancing Swedish Bo and I indulged in.
This was taken at the beginning of the night before the hair went up and the dancing started in earnest (the hair had to go up as it was bloody hot in there, we defended our spot infront of the air conditioning unit with vigorous use of elbows!). I raided L's wardrobe for the evenings ensemble....
Dress: "half inched" from L for the evening (it's got Russian Dolls printed all over it)
Belt: Topshop
Shoes: Red or Dead
Jewellery: My Grandmamas jade set

I also decided to go all out with the make up as I had a fake eyelash applying expert with me....

arrrrrrr extreme close up of my mug!

.....I really must learn how to do this myself! I also decided that it was a good idea to dye my hair two hours before we were heading out of the door, as you do! I chose L'Oreal Casting Creme Gloss in Dark Chocolate which I've used before and I love the results, what do you think?

All in all we had a most fun evening, although one of the downsides of having a hot Swedish Bo with you is that you have to share all the cute boys! There weren't that many in evidence last night however so this wasn't too much of a problem and as the Swede was staying with me I can officially say I got to take a hottie home! Oooo err Missus!

Said hottie and I are off out shortly for some retail therapy of the London variety (Swedish Bo is a Brighton resident you see) we are hoping that our feet stop hurting for long enough to make this fun! I am then coming home to make roastie beast for the masses which I am very much looking forward to! What are you Sunday plans?

Lazy Day

I've had a very very lazy day which has been lovely. I finished watching Lost which was totally weird and I still need lots of things answered but I guess that was the only way it could finish! I've also watched a few films today so all in all very chilled.

I'm making Spag. Bol. for V and I tonight, I haven't made this for ages so I'm actually very much looking forward to it! We're having the whole shebang with garlic bread and fresh paramsan too, good noms.

It's another Frocking Friday so todays dress is this...

Dress: Oasis

Cardigan: Can't remember
Tights: Dorothy Perkins
Shoes: Office

I love these shoes and they are so comfy, I'm wearing them around the house to break them in so I don't end up with a hideous shoe malfunction when I finally wear them out and about. There is nothing worse than painful shoes/sore feet and there is only so much a Compeed blister plaster can do. No make up today and I've given my hair the day off so this is it when it's dried naturally and not been curled/straightened not looking too bad and only a little fluffy, which surprises me!

It turns out I'm making Sunday roast beast for nine maybe ten people! I love it when we have loads of people over for dinner, I always enjoy cooking but it's much more fun if it's for other people. Plus if it's just you you're cooking for then you also have to do the washing up!

Jermyn Street

My date with Blue Eyed Guy went very well indeed last night, we drank and chatted until the pub staff had to ask us to leave, conversation flowed very easily and oh my but he's gorgeous! Hopefully I shall be seeing him again very soon so I'll keep you updated.

I'm an avid fashion magazine reader/buyer and they sometimes come with some great free gifts, one of my favourite monthlies is Instyle and a few months ago it came with this Nails Inc polish....
.....I wasn't sure about the colour at first but I'm now loving it. I very rarely wear brown polishes but this one seems to really suit my skin tone so it's a keeper.

I have a fun weekend ahead of me including a night out with Swedish Bo that will apparently be Grease themed and then cooking roastie dinner for the flatmates and some friends to celebrate a birthday on Sunday. How about you, any fun plans this weekend or are you playing it by ear?

Lots of Love

Trendy

First of all thank you to the beautiful Arietta of Stripes and Scarlets for mentioning me in her Trendy Blogger Award post, she's a lovely lady with a great sense of style and I always look forward to reading her daily posts.

So this evening I have my first official date with Blue Eyed Guy which I'm very much looking forward to, we are heading off for some drinks in the Charlotte Street area which is a favourite haunt of mine. It'll be interesting to see how we get on as we were both a little tipsy when we intially met and I haven't actually met anyone in a club/bar for years! I've decided to wear this.....

Jumper: Topshop
Shorts: French Connection
Belt: Accessorize
Tights: Dorothy Perkins
Shoes: Red or Dead
Necklace: Grandmama
Bracelet: Mum
Jacket: Topshop
Hat, Gloves and Scarf: BHS

I feel very nautical because of the stripes and colours I think. This is the first outting for these shoes and I don't know why I've waited so long as they are lovely and very comfortable (as are all my Red or Dead shoes), I need to start wearing more of my unworn things as these shorts fast became a favourite of mine and up until a few months ago they had never seen the light of day! So what do you guys think of this outfit, first date appropriate?

Good Isle of Wight Times

I'm home! I spent an extra day on the island with Papa which was lovely but had to come back to reality. I do love it down there, I'd forgotten how much. Papa and I worked out that I hadn't been there for about six years! For many of those years Mum and Papa were in Saudi Arabia so there were good reasons. It's nice to be able to go back whenever I like now....
....I took this photo this morning, it was hot and sunny in January, can't wait for the Spring/Summer trips! I also love cooking on their Aga.....
.....I wish I had a spare £12,000 odd lying around I would so get myself one, everything tastes amazing...
 ....roast shoulder of lamb....
....the best Yorkies I've made so far....
.....and Aga toast, nothing beats Aga toast! It was also lovely to have Suzzi...
.....to play with, she has managed to convince herself that she's a lap dog that has bed privileges! I should be grateful really that she decided to sleep on my bed, I've been woken up by Suzzi pouncing on me at 7/8am a few times. At least when she wakes up with you it's only a cold nose in your ear rather than a whole small dog launcing itself at you! Suzzi is a Plummer Terrier and fully grown now, ever so slightly mental (her new favourite activity is to chase her own tail and yip) but oh so adorable.

I also came home with some lovely fashion goodies....

.....I love these dresses, the one on the right is the Ossie Clark I've mentioned and the one on the left is an original from the 70's which I've worn a few times before. What I really want to know is how Mum managed to wear these dresses as she is five inches shorter than me and I need very high heels on with both of these, I'm guessing some very very large platform shoes were involved!

I have my first date with Blue Eyed Guy tomorrow! Wish me luck, hopefully there will be no dating disaster to report.

Lots of Love

Praying Mantis

I'm currently curled up on the sofa with Suzzi and Papa, we've stuffed ourselves silly with Pork Dijon (I highly recommend this, very easy to make and so yummy) and Magnum ice creams....

....Suzzi is convinced that small dogs should be allowed chocolate and this is her "begging" face, needless to say she got no chocolate (bad for dogs) so off she went and came back with a lump of concrete in her mouth! Papa is currently redecorating the whole house so everything is everywhere but why Suzzi felt concrete was a good substitute for chocolate I have no idea!

This is my first trip back to The Island since Mum and Dad left for Saudi Arabia the first time around, nearly six years ago. There had been some talk of them selling this house and setting up base somewhere else but coming back here I'm so glad they've decided to stay. The house is in a great location with sea views and will be beautiful again after Papa has finished with it, he's already taking "bookings" for summer visitors and is getting quite full with me and my friends alone!

I love visiting my parents houses, wherever they are living there are always some new treasures to discover, like the two beauties above! How amazing is the praying mantis? Who on earth makes an ornamental praying mantis? Somewhere in the house there is also an ornamental spider which belonged to my Grandmother and used to terrify me, I'll see if I can find it.

As I said everything is a little up in the air as the house is being totally overhauled, there are wrapped up rugs, vases, urns, furniture and all sorts of different wonderful things all over the place just waiting to be unvieled. This house was beautiful when Dad finished decorating it the first time round, due to an unfortunate rental incident (do not rent to "friends") it's been trashed and he has to start over again but this does give them the opportunity to rethink and redo everything. I can't wait to see it all finished with everything unwrapped and out on display.

Papa and I spoke to Mum on Skype earlier and she mentioned more jewellery boxes for me to have a rumage through! How spoilt am I? Ossie Clark and more jewellery in one visit, can't be bad. There was a package from Wallpaper Rose waiting for me when I arrived which contained my gorgeous Golden Snitch necklace. The weird thing is the handwriting on the envelope looked like my Papa's, so much so that Papa thought he'd posted me something himself and couldn't work out why he'd sent it to his own address!

I hope you are all having a fab weekend?

Lots of Love

Good Read

It's hailing in central London right now, I was going to go out for a bit of a wander in the daylight (have become a little vampiric over the last few days) but whilst I'll walk in the rain I draw the line at hailstones! Today is the second Frocking Friday of the year so I hasve decided to wear this....

Dress: Miss Selfridge
Cardigan: Oasis
Tights: Dorothy Perkins
Necklace & Bracelet: Mum
Boots: Aldo

I started watching Lost from the beginning again and I'm currently in the middle of season 4 so I've just about caught up with myself. I thought I should watch from the start so I would hopefully have some small clue about whats going on and yeah that hasn't worked so well but I am now watching brand new episodes (to me anyway) so it's all getting rather exciting! I went to the LFCC last year and the Life on Mars actors kind of gave away the ending but I'm still interested to see how the Lost guys handle it all.

Tonight I'm going out for a few drinks with V and then I'm off down to the Isle of Wight tomorrow to spend the weekend with my Dad, my train is at 11am which for me is a very early start but it's all good, I can sleep on trains! I'll either be sleeping or reading, I've got my Peter F. Hamilton to be getting on with, the next Flashman book and I've signed up to From Gem with Love's bookclub the first book is Room by Emma Donoghue, I've always wanted to be part of a bookclub but as I work nights I've found it quite difficult to find one to join so I'm really looking forward to this experience.

What are you up to this weekend? Any exciting plans?

Lots of Love

Shiny, Excites!

So yesterday was an interesting day......knowing I had to get up stupidly early I tried to go to sleep around midnight which failed miserably. I got a text at around 1.30amish from The Canadian saying he'd found my blog and not to worry about the "no spark" thing as he hadn't felt one either and friends would be fine, not how I'd have chosen to tell him but the result is what I wanted so that was great (although not really at that time in the morning). Finally got up around 7.30am to get ready for my interview which went really well! I got through to the third round of the selection process and now have to wait until the end of January to find out if I get through to stage four. I'm feeling quite chuffed though as I was one of two hundred chosen from over two thousand applicants, they need eighty two people in total so, again, fingers crossed pleased!

Here is my Mum and Grandmothers jewellery I picked up the other day...
My Dad gave this locket to my Mum and it has pictures of me and my Lil Bother as babies in it

The gold charm bracelet is my Mum's and the silver Links one is mine

This articulated fish was my Grandmothers and it's hollow with a catch in it's mouth so you can put things in it, not sure what though. I'm thinking something that smells good!

I was given these lemon Topaz stones ages ago and never really knew what to do with them, I finally decided to put them on either end of a chain so I could style it in different ways like a lariat

This set is carved Jade set with diamonds (really tiny rose cut ones) and it belonged to my Grandmother

.....I wore the jade necklace to my interview, here's hoping it brings me good luck!

Do you remember my nightmare night of taxi hell? Well I got an email the other day from Express National Carriers offering me £20 credit to "apologise" for the disaster that was that night after the guy had read my blog! I swore I'd never use them again after the appaling service they gave us. I think the offer is a nice gesture but it doesn't change the fact that they left five girls stranded in sub zero temperatures, in the middle of nowhere for hours at 12.30am. What do you think?

Polka Dotty

I have a busy and exciting week ahead of me, including work, a job interview (10am Wednesday please keep those fingers crossed) and a trip down to the Isle of Wight to see my dear Papa. I'm not 100% sure what we'll be doing while I'm down there but I've been told to bring a big empty suitcase so I can take home goodies hopefully including some Ossie Clark! I'll be sorting out the next part of my M.C.S.E (Microsoft Certified System Engineer) course while I'm on the island too which is very exciting.

I've got lots of errands to run today. Dad wants me to pick up two more automatic card shufflers for him, I bought one for Christmas to help us with Crazy 8's (a card game that involves at least two if not three packs of cards depending on how many people are playing) and it was amazing. Also before Mum moved over to Saudi she gave me her Mothers old jewellery box which had some amazing pieces in it but most, if not all, were either damaged or in serious need of cleaning. I found a fabulous jeweller who has done this for me and it's all ready to collect, I can't wait as I want to wear all of it immediately.

I'm wearing this little lot today....

Blouse: Topshop
Belt: Warehouse
Shorts: French Connection
Tights: Boots
Boots: Nine West
Necklace: Tatty Devine

I love this blouse and have owned it for ages I've just never gotten around to working out what to wear it with until today. I really want some black high waisted shorts like these, I think I might try and make them my first sewing project of the year.

The Canadian texted me again today asking if he could see me sometime this week. I really enjoy his company but I didn't feel any spark at all on our second date. I don't know what to say to him now as I l'd like to stay in touch but not romantically, on our first date he told me that he would rather hear no reply to his emails on MSF than a "thanks, but no thanks" message but I'm guessing that this doesn't apply after having been on two dates! Any ideas on what to say, any advice is greatly appreciated!

Lots of Love
