Really Fancy

So today Blue Eyed Guy has invited me down to his neck of the woods which just so happens to be my old neck of the woods too. I'm off to Blackheath for the day (and night!) for an afternoon of good conversation, lazy drinks and good food. I'm hoping we can go to my first ever home The Princess of Wales for a few drinks at some point, I have been back there a few times recently once with Papa and once with Senhor B. and to be honest I don't remember it from my childhood all that much (we did move away when I was four and I know they've redecorated since then...) but I do get all nostalgic about it because it was my first home, they still have the patio that my Papa layed himself (with his own fair hands) and other little things like that. It's such a pretty part of London especially when the sun is shining which it hasn't the last few times I've been so fingers crossed for a few rays making it through today!

I was actually born in Greenwich hospital which isn't there anymore, my Mum and Papa were so popular with their clientele at the pub that one of them lent Papa his Rolls Royce Silver Shadow.... come and pick Mum and I up from the hospital. The first twenty minutes of my life outside the hospital I thought I was really fancy and I think all my expensive tastes stem back to this moment in my life.....honest Papa, it was all your fault!

Today I've decided to wear this for the general lazy Sunday wanderings I'm expecting.....

Dress: Miss Selfridges
Jumpers: Miss Selfridges
Cardigan: Oasis
Tights: Dorothy Perkins
Boots: Aldo
Necklace: Mum's
Dead Fraggle Scarf: Knitted for me by Mum
Coat: M&S borrowed from V

.....I've also been promised a roastie beast at some point today although Blue Eyed Guy has declined to cook this himself, I'm in agreement as a pub Sunday roast means no washing up. What are you up to today, any roastie goodness involved?

Help Wanted!

The Cold War Kids gig was brilliant, I love discovering new bands to listen too and gigs are very much fun, I shall have to go to more!
Blue Eyed Guy was lovely and even forgave me for being twenty five minutes late to meet him! Stupid tube at rush hour, it took me forty five minutes to travel four stops on the Northern Line, queues to get on to the platform then having to let three trains go past as there was no room to squeeze on......bloody public transport!

I find myself in need of your help again if you're willing? I got all my Playboy contracts signed and sent off this week and part of the information pack was some helpful tips for the Dealer Training School. Thankfully it's an 11am start which is perfect for me (really not an early morning fan and not just mentally either, my body seems to react really badly to me trying to put make up on anytime before 9am, streaming eyes and all the make up comes off, argh!) but they want us to wear "smart casual" which is so ambiguous!

The only musts are heels everyday (to get used to standing in them for hours I'm guessing - this will be great for my Shoeperwoman Shoe Challenge at least!), short manicured nails and full hair and make up. Now the help I need is interpreting "smart casual"; what does this mean to you? Are jeans acceptable or a total no go? What would be too smart? Are my dresses going to be acceptable or too casual? Arghhhhhhhhhhh! Any advice would be gratefully received.

New nail time for me and I'm making the most of being able to wear slightly unusual colours....
.....I'm guessing there will be guidelines for the preferred colours we will be asked to wear at work, I'm hoping I won't have to trim my nails too much as I really like this length! This Barry M nail paint in Blueberry Ice Cream really surprised me because I only needed one coat, I've found with other sorbet colours from this line that I've sometimes needed as many as three/four coats to get a good coverage and depth of colour. I'm actually thinking about painting glitter on to the ends as seen on A Million Dresses as I loved this look on Sarah.

I've got a very chilled afternoon of room cleaning and film watching ahead of me, I shall be mostly watching Star Wars VI - Return of the Jedi which has to be my favourite one of them all. Enjoy your Saturdays whatever you are getting up to.

4th Times The Charm

This is the first time I have felt properly healthy in weeks so I'm going to make the most of it! Blue Eyed Guy is taking me to Koko to see a Cold War Kids gig tonight (I'd never heard of them before, lots of catching up for me this afternoon). This will be the fourth gig I've been too ever (I've led a sheltered life), at the other three it got very hot very quickly so I'm going to wear this....

Top: Oasis
Jeans: Miss Sixty
Shoes: Office (2nd pair saved)
Jewellery: From Mum

.....with lots of layers on top for the getting there and getting home bit.

The rest of this week I'll be working which I'm not overly looking forward to as I really want to start my new job, only twenty days to go! I got all my contracts signed and returned today so it's really happening which is so exciting, still slightly nervous about the maths in my head bit but I'm sure I'll be fine.

I've been reading "Room" for From Gem With Love's bookclub, I'm cutting it very fine with the deadline but it was one of those books  I just couldn't get into. I reached the point though where that "something" happens and now I'm hooked! I'm really looking forward to finding out what next months book will be, as I have a feeling I'll end up reading a lot of books I would never have thought twice about with bookclub. Always a good thing in my opinion! What are you reading at the moment?

Bunch Of Grapes

So this past week didn't really go according to plan but was very enjoyable none the less. My date with Blue Eyed Guy on Friday was lovely, I took him to the last club that I worked at for dinner and drinks. It was lovely to see old friends again and it will definitely go down in history as one of the most different fourth dates ever.....the last club I worked at was Spearmint Rhino you see! The food there is very good and the portion size is huge, I agree that it's probably not to everyones taste but I think it can be a fun night out every now and again.

Last night was spent at York Hall in Bethnal Green for a Frank Warren boxing event which was much fun (I never wear my glasses or contact lenses to these events so I can't really see the boxing which makes it much more enjoyable for me!) the fabulous Amber was there with me....
...don't we look like grapes in the purple catsuits! Amber is the very talented lady that does my hair for me, if you are a London resident I can highly recommend her. There was a photographer from The Guardian there and they are doing a profile of boxers through the years and we were asked to pose for a few pictures, the feature will be in the weekend magazine that comes along with the paper in three weeks time. I've seen a few of the pictures and they've come out really well, it was a bit weird though as they wanted us to NOT pose which felt very odd indeed!

Today I was supposed to be going to the filming of "OMG with Peaches" with the lovely Sarah but her friend was ill so she couldn't make it (another time Sarah, L said you are more than welcome whenever they are filming), after two late nights I thought a power nap was called for and promptly slept through my alarm, oopps! Not quite sure how I managed to do that as I always listen to audio books to fall asleep to so I have my headphones on which means I usally jump a mile when the alarm goes or someone texts me! I must have been knackered to sleep through it.

I'm spending my evening munching on fruit and almonds, trying to be healthier (could you ignore the fact that I ate a huge KFC meal last night please? It was the first time I'd had one in years.....honest!), catching up with my blog reading and watching Bulletproof Monk, totally daft movie but Seann William Scott is rather scrummy and on my List of Five, who's on yours?

Coughing Cacophony

So my plans for working this week took a sideline thanks to this stupid cold/cough that would just not bugger off (the whole flat has it and we can get quite a rhythm going at some points, a coughing cacophony if you will), today however I have woken up feeling slightly more normal! Huzzah! This is perfect timing as I'm seeing the fabulous Y for lunch today and then I'm taking Blue Eyed Guy for some drinking/eating fun this evening and then I have a busy weekend ahead involving catsuits, boxing, food and Peaches you do.

As it's a Frocking Friday I shall get my dress fix in with a change of outfit .....I wore jeans for my lunch date. I really want to wear the orginial 70's dress that Mum gave me but I think I'll be too cold, come on Spring I want to get out of my jumper dresses! Hmmm sod it I'm going to do it.....

Dress: My Mum
Shoes: Red or Dead (1st pair to be resecued!)
Jewellery: Angie Gooderham
Earrings: Grandmamas

I've spent most of my time at home this week sewing, when I wasn't coughing that is, and as you've seen I've finished the dress I started ages ago, I also decided to make a circle skirt and high waisted shorts out of the fabric as I had quite a bit left over. Both of these are now finished save for the finishing touches of hooks and eyes and then hand sewing the hems (my least favourite part of the process..... as I'm getting better at zips now!).

I made the shorts from a pattern I have for wide leg trousers which I love but I cut the pattern out a few years ago and the shorts are very snug at the moment this however is ok as I do want to loose the weight I've put back on over the last three months. I had planned to start working out again a few weeks ago but promptly fell ill and haven't felt like bouncing around like a crazy thing until today, yey! So this is Day 1 mark 2, I will be exercising every day and I will be enjoying it......well that might be a bit of lie but I'll want to be enjoying it!

Is there any form of exercise you enjoy/would recommend?

Shoeper Shoe Challenge

Kerry from My Orange Stilettos commented on my last post which led me to go and check out her blog (very cute and very orange!) which led me to discover the Shoeperwoman Shoe Challenge! I love it, as you probably know I own quite a few pairs of shoes......seventy eight to be exact and some of them I haven't worn in ages so this challenge seems perfect for me.

The Rules:
  • You must wear every pair of shoes/boots you own before the end of the challenge- 14th February 2012. (And it doesn’t matter whether you own five pairs or five hundred – everyone is welcome!)
  • You must take photos of yourself wearing each pair of shoes as “evidence”. (Full length outfit shots only: photos showing just your feet don’t count!)
  • Any shoes that you haven’t worn by the end of the challenge must be disposed of: use ‘em or lose ‘em.
So here are all my shoes....
....wish me luck!

I finished my dress last night after hours of hand sewing the hem (damn circle skirts and their yards of fabric!), here it is.....

....I love it. I was a little worried about the bodice as it doesn't have that many darts to fit it to the body but I think it's worked out quite well and I'm so please with all the trim which I made myself! I have enough of this fabric left to make something else so I'm thinking of a high waisted circle skirt and maybe some high waisted shorts too. Now all I need is some sunny weather so I can wear it's hoping!

Happy F.D.I.C.O.F.F.D. Day!

Happy V Day people, for me it's happy "First Day I Can Officially File For Divorce"Day, that is quite a mouthful! I can't quite believe that I've been married for five and a half years now but it's true and I have. This does however mean that I can now file for a divorce without my ex's signature which is a fab thing as I have no clue where in the world he is, we did try and do the "keep in touch" friend thing but yeah, not so much.

This week I shall be mostly meeting the fabulous K for some lunchables this afternoon, then I was meant to be having a FDICOFFD Day dinner with the flatmates tonight but V is still ill and L wants a night in as she has a busy week ahead and as I went out for dinner with R and Only Boy Flatmate last night, two nights in a row might be a little bit weird! I'm a bit upset about this as I was looking forward to my divorce party, it's not like this is an occurance I want to happen more than once, but hey ho it's one of those things and I shall just have to celebrate getting through my Decree Absolute! I'm having lunch with the lovely Y at some point in the week, not sure when yet and Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and possibly Saturday I shall be doing the work thing, then on Sunday I'm off with L and few of her friends and the fabulous Sarah and her friends to watch "OMG with Peaches" being filmed. At some point in the show they get the random spotlight out and whoever it falls on has to share their OMG moment, I have a fairly good one with my new job as most peoples reactions has naturally been "Oh My God!" (in a nice way, not a how the hell did you get that least that's how I've been taking it! HA!).

I've finally got the right bits and pieces to finish off my dress so that is what I'll be up to tonight...
.....making my own bias binding tape is going to be interesting, hopefully I won't burn my fingers with the iron! I'll post pictures tomorrow of how it all turns out.

I hope you are all having a fab V Day whatever you're doing and whoever you're doing it with!

The Harwood Arms

Mmmmmmm I literally can not wait for dinner this evening R, Only Boy Flatmate and I (V was meant to be coming but she is too unwell, even for venison) are heading out for a lovely dinner courtesy of my fabulous friend Mike who's pub The Harwood Arms is. If you ever happen to be in London and can get on the six week long wait list for a table I highly recommend you head on over, seasonal goodness, a lovely atmosphere and it won't cost you an arm and leg!

Only Boy Flatmate is out in the countryside somewhere this afternoon playing competitive frisbee (who knew there was such a thing!) and then the three of us are heading out. I'm hoping I won't feel/look like too much of a third wheel on a date but honestly I don't care, fingers crossed there is Blood Orange Sorbet on the menu ........mmmmmm Blood Orange Sorbet *drool*.
I've decided to wear this tonight....

Top: Swished from Swedish Bo
Cardigan: Oasis
Belt: Accessorize
Shorts: French Connection
Tights: Dorothy Perkins
Shoes: Office
Jewellery: Grandmama

L has asked me to ask for your help, would you mind sharing your OMG moments with me/the world? As you know if you've read any of my dating disaster stories, I've had plenty of Oooooo Mmmmm Geeee moments myself. Please could you comment with your OMG moment, your name and email address (in case the production crew want to ask you any further questions about it), that would be lovely of you. If you'd rather not leave contact details that's no problem but do share your OMG with us!

Puma Not A Cougar!

Yesterday I learnt that I'm a Puma not a Cougar, I didn't even know that such a thing exsisted but apparently it does and as Blue Eyed Guy is seven years younger than me it makes me one, who knew! It turns out quite a few of my friends are Pumas too. I usually won't date anyone younger than me due to a few disasters (F**k Wit, Scum Monkey and Famous Guy to name a few) but this does narrow the field somewhat as most of the good/normal thirthy somethings have already been snapped up but savvy women. I'm still hopeful that there are a few out there, Senhor B is proof that they exsist, and in the meantime I'm very much enjoying being likened to a graceful, lithe, top of the food chain predator!

It was really interesting to watch the rehearsal of a TV show, how they worked out what certain cameras would be doing and the links between presenters. The show is OMG with Peaches and it's being filmed next week, L and a few others are going to go to the filming to see how it's done in front of an audience. I decided to wear this yesterday as it was after all Frocking Friday.....

Dress: Topshop
Jumper: Kookai
Belt: Gap
Tights: Dorothy Perkins, I've got navy on underneath and maroon lacy ones over the top.
Shoes: Aldo
Earrings: Swished from V

Whilst we were at ITV we had a little wander round and found ourselves on the set of Chatty Man, naturally we had to take pictures.... might be just about be able to tell that I've swapped my heels for L's flat boots, slip on heels with tights are a total nightmare! I nearly broke my ankle a few times yesterday whilst walking to and from places, yet another reason I can't wait for the weather to warm up. After all the filming fun (the auidence we asked for their OMG moments, some were funny, some were fab and some were just scary like the guy who, at 16, slept with his best friends 48 year old MUM!) we went to the Mulberry Bush for some drinks and the best chips I've ever eaten, yum!

Tonight I'm curled up in bed again with this stupid cough that will just not bugger off, it's most unfair! I hope you are all having a more enjoyable Saturday night than I am?!

Thai Me Up

Thank you all for your congratulations, I'm still highly over excited and can't quite believe it! I'm a Playboy Bunny! Mum and Papa are both very chuffed for me and oh so proud, as are all my other family and friends, ta lovelies.

Last night Blue Eyed Guy took me out for the threatened Thai meal and it was lovely! I had chicken satay and a lamb curry neither were too hot and both were very is Blue Eyed Guy. I hadn't seen him for a couple of weeks as he's been boarding in Chamonix, so it was good to catch up and as ever the conversation flowed freely. Blue Eyed Guy even forgave me for my cough which has still not buggered off, he was pre warned that I was a little sniffly and decided he'd risk it I just hope I haven't given it to him!

I wore this little number for my dinner date....
Dress: "Half Inched" from Tatty
Tights: Boots
Boots: Nine West

I love these boots, they are so comfy to walk in which is always a good thing. Sore feet = bad times!

Today I'm off with L to ITV to watch a show being filmed. Hopefully I won't be coughing the whole way through, I'm sure that would not make me popular with the production team!  What are your weekend plans?

Bunny Up!

I got the job!! I'm so excited!! I got the phone call today and they offered me the role I really wanted ........ I'm going to be a the new Playboy casino that's opening in Mayfair in June, I'm going to be a Playboy Bunny!!!! Ahhhhh soooo excited (I think I already said that!). I'll be wearing the satin corset and ears and cottontail and eveything!

....this was my invite to the cocktail party interview that you guys helped me get ready for, I love the illustrations. My training course starts on the 14th March and the casino itself opens on the 4th June. I'm slightly nervous about the doing maths in my head bit but apparently it becomes second nature after a while and I'm already really good at standing in heels for hours!

I'm off out on a date with Blue Eyed Guy tomorrow, we're going to have the Thai meal I chickened out of last time. All in all this is turning out to be a great week.....except for the cough!

Monday, 7 February 2011

I've had a really lovely weekend down on The Island with Papa, we had a bit of a nightmare to start with though. Papa needed to come over to Southampton to sort out a few things and pick out fabric for the sofas, we had arranged that I would call him when I arrived at Southampton to find out where he was so I could go to meet him. The problems began when I got to Southampton Airport train station and called Papa.....his phone went straight to voicemail, eep! I got the bus to Southampton Central crossing my fingers that Papa was still on the ferry where there is no phone reception, I called his phone very many times and still nothing. I ended up calling the furniture store and asking if Papa had been in and spent any money as yet that day, turns out they were expecting him but thankfully he hadn't been in so I could leave my number with them. Off I went to the shopping mall out of the rain to window shop and finally I got the call from Dad, his phone was broken but he was at the store so over I headed. How on earth did we survive without mobile phones?

Papa and I got the Red Jet ferry back over to Cowes and blimey it was rough, we were actually bounced clean out of our seats a couple of times! Now I love rollercoasters but this was scary and made me feel so ill as it was dark so I couldn't see the horizon line. We then had ten minutes to dash around Waitrose to get some food, speed shopping is quite fun actually and surprisingly I got everything we needed!

I spent the weekend helping Papa organise wardrobes of clothes, I was very efficient which surprised Papa but I explained that where clothes were involved of course I was good! We also sorted out some of the paperwork and came across this picture...
.....which is my Mum and LLB (Little Big Boy aka my Lil' Bother!), I look so much like her, except Mum has lovely straight teeth! I guess it isn't too surprising that I look like her and I at least know I'm going to age well as Mum looks fabulous now.

I mentioned before that I love visiting my parents place on The Island as I always discover new little things whenever I go, last time it was the praying mantis and this time it's this little guy...
....teeny tiny white rabbit, he's about 1.5cm long and so cute. I asked Papa if I could "adopt" him but funnily enough I wasn't allowed. I also found these....
....they are props Mum made for Papa's costume when he played the ships captain in the pantomime  Dick Whittington! As long as I can remember Papa and Mum were involved with stage companies and did panto's and musicals, Lil' Bother and I were also involved..... one role I had entailed riding a Shetland pony across the stage dressed as Uncle Sam! As the house gets more and more organised old photos will be coming to light of all of us in our costumes, I may even post some on here, from what I remember they'll be hilarious!

I got home today after a taxi ride, then ferry journey (not so bouncy this time but the windows had steamed up so I couldn't see the horizon line again = bluergh!), then bus trip, then a train ride, then finally a tube, that is a lot of different methods of travel all in one day! I came home to a tidy house with lots and lots of flowers...

.....but R, who most of the flowers belong to, is not a fan of cut flowers. This poses a problem for her wedding day (R and Only Boy Flatmate got engaged last year), what does a bride who doesn't like cut flowers carry as her bouquet? So far we've come up with a Gin and Tonic which would be yummy but probably not the best thing to walk down the church aisle holding! Does anyone have any suggestions for bouquets alternatives?

So onto this week.....tonight I'm spending curled up with trashy TV, then tomorrow I have an eye test which I'm not looking forward to but the upside is that I'll be getting some new glasses, if I can find some frames I like. The rest of the week I'll be working and waiting on the edge of my seat to find out if I've been offered the job I've been interviewing for, eep! I'm hoping to go out on Saturday night for a girlie night and then Sunday we're going (flatmates and I) to The Harwood Arms ,which is one of my most favourite places in London, for a very yummy dinner. All in all a week I am very much looking forward to, what are you plans?

Highly Temperamental

It's another Frocking Friday and as I missed last weeks due to stupid stomach bug I was determined not miss today's despite my cold, but I woke up feeling so icky I have decided not to inflict images of myself on you! I thought I would show you this though....

....I love this dress and found it on Posh Girl Vintage unfortunatley it had already sold so I'm searching for a similar fabric so I can attempt to make one for myself! I love this vintage site and have bought some great things from them already, if I won the lottery I would be buying up so many of the lovely things!

Now I was meant to be heading down to south west London today to visit a friend but I don't want to pass on these horrible germs my flatmates have given. Also my friend just so happens to be a police lady and I confessed last night, via text, that I had killed said flatmates for giving me said cold. This possibly wasn't the wisest of moves considering she has the power to arrest me (must remember to hide the bodies)......if I don't blog for a while you'll know it's because I'm on the run!

I haven't done a dating disaster post for a while, this is mainly because the stories I haven't yet told you are all fairly lengthy and I haven't had time to sit down and properly write them. However today I have had lots of spare time so I thought I would tell you about Actor Guy!

I met Actor Guy on; he was tall, he was attractive and his emails were witty (have you noticed a theme developing here?), a few emails were exchanged which led on to numbers being exchanged, to texts being exchanged, to the inevitable phone call and eventually we agreed to meet up for "drinks".

I feature quite heavily on my dating profiles that I like sci-fi (watching it and going to conventions) and Actor Guy's opening email told me that he had been a bad guy on a recent Dr.Who episode. Now Whoers are the lowest rung of the food chain when it comes to sci-fi geeks (even lower than Trekkies, I'm a Scaper/Trekkie/Browncoat hybrid in case you were interested) but I have been enjoying the recent Dr's (the programme used to terrify me when I was younger, I had to hide behind the sofa when it was on!) and thought that Actor Guy and I would at least have an interesting afternoons conversation.

Actor Guy asked me to meet him in Covent Garden so we could then head over to one of his favourite pubs which sounded like a lovely Summer's afternoon to me so I readily agreed. When I got there Actor Guy had arrived on his Vesper (is it just me or is that a little camp for a London guy? Italians seem to pull it off though) so he was carrying around a crash helmet and was wearing Jesus sandles, thankfully without the socks, white linen cropped trousers and a white wife beater. Aesthetically he wasn't my ideal but I was still looking forward to an interesting afternoon.

Off we headed to the pub which was lovely but unfortunately there were no outside tables left, it was the middle of a weekday afternoon surely everyone else should have been at work so we could have our pick of seats? I digress......drinks were bought and we started chatting about his job and the various roles he had (he was in the first Harry Potter too, sooooo cool!) and how it came about he was an actor; he fell in to it totally by accident when he was offered the HP gig, he had been a sculpter before.

Now because of what I do for a living I'd like to think I'm very good at putting people at their ease and maintaining a steady flow of conversation with a (more or less) total stranger and on some of my dates this has been a God send but it wasn't necessary for my date with Actor Guy. That is not to say that I couldn't get a word in edge ways but he did like to talk....a lot.

After a few drinks Actor Guy suggested a walk down the South Bank in search of food, this sounded like a great idea as afternoon drinking really seems to go to my head! We set off for a stroll leaving the Vesper in Covent Garden (he only had one crash helmet with him) and carried on chatting, we'd moved on to his work as an artist by now.

A cute little place on the river was discovered, nibbles were ordered (way too hot for a full lunch time meal, another fab thing about it being hot is that I only seem to want to eat small portions of healthy things!) and Corona's were enjoyed. The conversation was still flowing freely, by now we were talking about his family, all in all I was having a lovely (if a little one sided) afternoon, the elusive spark however had not made an appearence.

Now I firmly believe that you should try everything in life twice; once to see if you liked it and the second time just to make sure. So when Actor Guy and I parted ways (there was an attempted kiss on the lips and little waist grabbing at the goodbye) I still thought I would have liked to see him again to get to know him better (he liked to talk about himself a lot but he was very interesting while he was doing it). Actor Guy later that day sent me a text thanking me for a lovely afternoon and asking if I would like to meet up again soon? I replied that I had indeed enjoyed myself and would love to meet up again soon for a friendly drink.

I thought this was a good response because as anyone who has read any of my previous dating disaster stories will know I am looking for that all important spark (along with everything else), although I do agree with The Canadian that "sparks" often lead to trouble (funnily enough I haven't heard back from The Canadian since he read that blog post and texted that drinks as friends would be fine, go figure!). I still think that you need that intial PHWOAR factor when you first meet someone for anything to develope romantically. Basically you have to fancy the pants of the person who is going to be your significant other, that is my humble opinion anyway.

Actor Guy however was not impressed with my text response it seems.......he "has enough friends thank you" and "was not using a dating site to increase their number", well ok then (I'm aware that I had met him on a dating site not a social networking site but I thought we'd gotten on well enough to carry on getting to know each other as friends, obviously not!)! I'm not sure what it was about Actor Guy that meant that I didn't feel the might have been the first sight of him perched on his Vesper, it might have been those Jesus sandles, it might have been the slightly see through cropped white linen trousers.....but unfortunatley I did not feel it, after that last text message I rather speedily lost any desire to know him better in anyway and chalked the whole thing up to experience; I learnt that actors can be highly temperamental and like to talk!

Silver Linings

Last nights cocktail party interview was actually really fun and I think went as well as it could have. The "task" they set us was to find out certain random facts about the fifteen or so people that were there, sounds easy enough right? Well there were about thirty five of us girls there so most of the people were surrounded for most of the evening and you weren't allowed to directly ask them "are you the person allergic to shellfish?". It was a good icebreaker for people who don't feel comfortable approaching total strangers but hostessing cocktail parties is kinda what I do for a living now so I really enjoyed myself. All the other interviewees were lovely which made for a great atmosphere. I should find out later next week if I've made it through to the final cut of between seventy to eighty candidates so more finger crossing please! Thank you so much for all the good luck wishes, it means so much to me.

Today I have woken up with L and Only Boy Flatmate's cold which I am not happy about, I was ill for four days last week and now I feel like my head is full of cotton wool! At least I don't seem to have L's cough which is a silver lining. As always when I'm feeling bluergh I have stocked up on fashion magazines, OJ, Cherry Bakewells and I'm now settling down to watch trashy TV. I've also been painting my nails and have used Barry M's Instant Effects for the second time since I bought it back in October! I love this look so I don't know why I haven't used it for so long! Do you buy things and then forget about them for ages or do you use your new shiny thing all the time after you've gotten them home?

Arrrgh! It's interview day, slightly nervous but a cocktail party is my element so I should be fine. The invitation did say there would be some "tasks" for us to "sink our teeth into" which will be interesting. At the first group interview one of the tasks we were given was to spilt up into fours and create a singing telegram, in twenty five minutes, for one of ten different senarios. As a group we chose Will & Kate's engagement (there was also Elton John has a baby, Obama is President amongst other things), our telegram went a little like this.....

(Sung to the "I've Had The Time of My Life" tune)
"Now Will's met the girl of his dreams,
And they finally got approval from the Queen,
It may have taken many years,
But on April 29th there will be cheers!"

......there was a dance routine and everything! Yes, I actually did sing, very loud, in public and nobodies ears bled! I'm hoping the tasks won't involve me singing again but at least I know I can kinda do it if the need arises and I can definitely make people laugh.

I'd like to say again to everyone who put in their two cents worth with outfit choices that it was very much appreciated. You know what I'm wearing this evening but here it is with hair, make up and finishing touches....
Corset: Oasis
Skirt: Wheels & Dollbaby
Necklace: Butler & Wilson
Shoes:Red or Dead
Rings: My Grandmamas (I always wear these when I need good luck)

Fingers crossed peeps from 6-8pm if you will and I'll let you know how it all goes tomorrow (and if I had to sing again!).

Lots of Love
