Scary?

Hey Peeps

It's all change over here at Kittenish Behaviour! I am no longer a Playboy Bunny, I'm moving house and I am now officially a business owner! Oh yes! (that was a lot of exclamation marks wasn't it?)

I decided to hang up my ears and tuck away my bunny tail for various reasons but I have to say that the last nineteen months have been amazing; ups, downs, twists and turns aplenty but I wouldn't have changed anything for the world. I've learnt a skill, I've met an amazing bunch of people who will be lifelong friends, I've been able to go on a few crazy adventures and I also met The Fella. All in all Playboy Club London it's been interesting.....thank you!

So what now I hear you cry (I have excellent hearing don't you know....) well as I mentioned I'm moving house into what will officially be "Kitten Towers" home to my empire of creative goodness and birthplace of Kittenish Behaviour.com! I will be sharing more details about all this in the not too distant future but for now........watch this space!

In other news I decide on a different Halloween costume this year; I've been a pirate in various forms for the last three years so I thought a change was in order. I didn't really want to buy a super expensive costume so I trawled YouTube and discovered Emma Pickles who is very talented and gave me the Werewolf idea. I decided to go down the sexy Werewolf road so out came the make up.......

......I think I did an alright job even if I do say so myself! For the outfit I chopped up an old tee, black shorts, brown yeti boots, painted my nails all kinds of crazy colours and back combed the life out of my hair......

.....not overly scary although Big Bird (aka future sister-in-law) said I looked like a Kardashian which she finds scarier than werewolf's! What did you dress up as or did you spend the evening tucked up on the sofa with popcorn and scary movies?

Winterize!

Hello Everybody! It's been a while..... First off Kittenish Behaviour is two years old! I can't quite believe it to be honest; in some senses time has just flown by and in others it feels like many many years since I started this blog. Over the past few months I haven't been posting as often as I'd have like to and that's been for various reasons but thats all about to change in the not too distant future. There are big changes on the horizon which I'll be announcing very soon so stayed tuned!

Tonight The Fella took me out for dinner to discuss my plans over steak and fabulous red wine! Of course this was an excuse for me to dress up....

Dress: Love
Belt: Topshop
Cardigan: American Apparel
Tights: Dorothy Perkins
Boors: All Saints

....we went to Sophies in Covent Garden which I love. I've worn this dress quite a few times over the summer since I bought it and I was thinking I might have to pack it away over winter but I really like it with the chunky cardigan and tights so I think it'll be staying put for now! Do you have any "Summer" dresses that you just can't let go of when the colder weather arrives? How to do "Winterize" your summer items?

Spoilt!

Unfortunately due to unavoidable circumstance my Australia/Fiji trip had to be cancelled (I'm totally gutted I couldn't make my cousins wedding) but all was not lost because I went to Singapore for the weekend instead. Yes, you read that correctly the WEEKEND! It's all ok though because we flew First Class don't you know (eeep) ......

.......so I got a lovely full nights sleep on my flat bed seat that a rather wonderful stewardess came and made into an actual bed for me with pillow's, duvet and 400 thread Egyptian cotton sheets (can anyone explain thread count to me?). That wasn't even the best bit.....we stayed at Raffles .....

......which is something I've dreamt of doing for ages. Spoilt? Moi? Never......

Of course we headed over to the Long Bar to have a Singapore Sling on our very first night....

......now I have a sweet tooth but this was way too sweet even for me! I loved the bar itself though and it's the one place that making a mess is allowed and even encouraged in Singapore.....I of course mean throwing your peanut shells all over the floor (I nearly fell ass over heels on a shell walking in.....very dignified!). One of my favourite things about this place was that even my handbag was well looked after......

.....I just plonked it down on the table when we arrived and an attentive waiter came rushing over with a teeny tiny chair! The Fella though I was nuts taking a picture of it but it was just too cute!

My Papa used to live in Singapore when he was a boy and he visited again recently so I got a long list of things to do and see from him and Mum. I did some research of my own too and added a few more things to our itinerary.....

......this is the Marina Bay Sands complex which is a hotel, casino, shopping mall and restaurant hub all rolled up into one. It looked beautiful lit up at night over the marina itself and the view from the 57th floor was amazing....

.......we had dinner at Sky on 57 which I actually wasn't all that impressed with but cocktails on the balcony more than made up for lack lustre food! Whilst we were there we popped into the casino, or as my friend K likes to call it the "Giant Den of SIN!". I'm sad to say that we didn't win at roulette but we did end up with quite an entourage following us around which was funny, both the Fella and I are quite tall so we did kinda feel like giants (especially with my massive Philip Plein shoes on!)

The next day we headed over to Sentoasa Island which is basically (as far as I could tell) a huge tourist theme park trap! We went over by cable car and spent the day being proper tourists on a guided tour until we ditched our tour guide and headed off for our own adventure. We stumbled across the luge and chair lifts which were basically these mini go-kart thingys that you raced down the track and then caught the chair lift back up to the top to start all over again, so much fun! I'm actually a bit of a chicken when it comes to heights but it was so dark I couldn't really see how far up we were and the views were amazing.....

.........So with my fear of heights well known I got dragged onto the Singapore Flyer the next day! It wasn't too bad much to my surprise......

......I even got close enough to the edge to take this picture......

........(can you tell I've discovered Instagram? I'm kittenishbehaviour if you fancy a follow!)

After all the adrenaline had worked it's way out of my system (I was in a glass tube on an over sized ferris wheel....of course my heart was racing) we decided to relax by doing a reverse bungee quickly followed by an extreme swing.....yes a very relaxing afternoon indeed!

I do have video evidence of the Fella and I "enjoying" ourselves which I am trying to upload to YouTube (I've started my own YouTube channel! Squeaky voice be damned!). I'll share the link once I've worked out how to get the damn thing on there!

I definitely needed a more chilled day after all the excitement of Extreme Sports Day (there was a sign up saying that is was an extreme sport.....I have done an extreme sport! Oh yes!) so I decided a day of birds and animals was the perfect thing to do. The Jurong Bird Park, Singapore Zoo and Night Safari were wonderful. I got to feed the birds in the Lori Loft......

.....pet the Lima's ......

........and ride on an elephant! It was a VERY long day (10am until 10pm) but so worth it.

We got up to a few other things whilst we were out there (although not photographing my outfits it seems.....DOH!) but this could end up a super long and picture heavy post so I'll leave it there! All in all I had an amazing time and would definitely go back to Singapore (the fabric shopping was to die for!) given the chance although I think the Fella has decided on Costa Rica or China next......who am I to complain?

The Wayside

So July was definitely room beautification month! All five posts last month were either decorating or DIY's now, this is no bad thing but I did start this blog to help me get out of my style rut. It seems that if I'm not photographing my outfits for the blog I slip back into my safe "uniform" of jeans and a tee which is comfy but very boring. Five days of the week I am working which means wearing my rather fabulous actual uniform so a lot of the time I spend my day lounging about in my PJ's before throwing on something comfy/easy just for the journey to work (I'm wearing my PJ's at I type!). Tres lazy! Not only do I need to make more of an effort with my wardrobe I need to make more of an effort to actual do things during my day.

I started of the year being very good and exercising regularly but that kind of fell by the wayside after I came back from Dubai which is just daft considering how much money I spend monthly on gym memberships and classes! With this in mind I will be starting up with my Power Plate classes again tomorrow and I have also started the Diet Chef plan today. You may remember back in March I started the Jenny Craig diet which I ended up having mixed feelings about; on the one hand I did loose weight (not quite what I was hoping to but close) and I liked some of the food and on the other hand the customer service was appalling as was some of the food. I was going to give it another try but after some research on the trusty interwebs I discovered Diet Chef........

I really liked their approach, no scheduled counselling sessions but help available if you want/need it, the range of different dishes available (lots of chocolate yumminess which will be great for my sweet tooth!) and you can decide daily what you want to eat, you don't have to stick to a prearranged food plan. I've had my first breakfast and lunch and I actually can't wait for the macaroni and cheese I've picked out for dinner tonight.....om nom nom! They give you suggestions for healthy ways to enjoy dining out and recipes for healthy alternatives to make yourself if you decided you'd like a night off from your diet.

I am aware that I'm not overweight and I'm not dieting because I believe I am, I just am a lot bigger than I used to be and I want to be able to get back into all my clothes.......thats another reason I've been living in tees and jeans nothing else fits! So wish me luck please?

Exotic Secrets

Last nights tapas was oh so good, I love being able to legitimately choose a few things from the menu without looking like a piglet. I also suffer from what Mini Ginge calls it food envy......if someone else's dinner looks nicer than mine I want it! Tapas is meant to be shared so there is less chance of me getting stabbed by my dining partners fork as I reach for a portion of yumminess over on their side of the table.......mmmmmm chorizo!

So with all the beautification of my room thats been going on I thought I'd show you the last DIY project I've created. I've been thinking about making a french message board for ages but it's never really been high up on my list of priorities, I've always wanted those fabulous new shoes more! My recent shopping ban and subsequent nesting urge however have given me that kick up the backside to get creating (which is no bad thing!). I ordered myself some supplies and dug out some things I've had lying around for years and here is what happened.....

.....I found the frame on eBay and fell in love. All of the tutorials I found online had the memo boards with no frame which I liked but when I saw this frame I couldn't resist. I took out the backing board and used it as a template to cut out the padding and fabric. Ironing the fabric is a must......

.......then I just folded the material over the board and padding and started stapling! It's not the neatest on the back but once it's hung you won't see that part.....

......I then cut strips of ribbon and spaced them out over the board. I stapled them down one by one in first one direction and then the other. Most of the tutorials recommend weaving the ribbon but I totally forgot.....ooops!

Once all my ribbons were stapled down I put the board back into the frame and this is how it looked......

......now for the fun part: sewing and decorating!

.......first I sewed each cross point of the ribbons to give a padded effect.....

......and then I got to play with my new hot glue gun to stick on the tiny little cabochons I found. Most of the tutorials suggested buttons but I quite liked these little gems which look like push pins (I think so anyway)......

......so now I just have to wait for the fabulous P to come and help me attach this to my wall. I have it's space all picked out already which I'll show you once it's up.

In other news my Mum is coming home from Saudi for a few weeks this Friday and I can't wait to see her. I was working the hideous Graveyard shift last week which completely zonked me out (it is not normal to wake up at 4am in the morning!) thankfully it was only for one week and I have one more normal week left at work before I am officially on holiday! Unfortunately my Australia/Fiji trip fell through (totally gutted about this) but I am being whisked away somewhere exotic so I can't be too miserable. As yet I have no idea where that exotic place will be which in itself is exciting, I'll be sure to keep you updated!

One Coat, Two Coat, Three Coats.....More?!

You may have noticed that I've been in the nesting mood recently which has meant beautifying my room and starting the many projects that have been festering away in my tiny mind for years now! One of them is this fabulous thing..........

I saw this jewellery display.......thingy on Etsy a while ago and fell in love but at £80 odd quid I decided just to lust after it from afar. I kept drooling over it every time I logged onto my Etsy account though so after a little digging on trusty eBay I discovered you can buy vintage print drawers for £15 plus postage, of course I snapped one up! A few days later it arrived in all it's potential glory......

.........I got myself down to my local Robert Dyas for supplies.....

.......and got stuck in! As my drawer had little brass dividers ......

I couldn't just spray paint it as I'd been intending.......well I could've but I liked the brass detail so Papa and I put our heads together and came up with circular stickers as a way of masking off the details....

........aren't we clever? This was the colourful result........

.......next up was the fun but messy part.......spray painting! I was all set to go until I noticed that I'd bought spray paint for metal not wood....DOH! I went and exchanged the paint for some satin finish white wood paint and a paint brush and got started, one coat.....

....two coats......

.........three coats......

..........and finally I was finished......with the painting! Next up I had to remove all the little stickers and then tidy up the brass fixtures as some paint had managed to seep under them.....

......once cleaned up I then had the lovely task of screwing in around two hundred eyelet hooks.....I now have blisters OUCH! It's all been worth it though as this is the finished result.....

......and I love it! All I need to do now is get it attached to the wall (I already have it's spot picked out) and buy some more earrings to fill up the empty spots!

I was having a quick look through some of my blog posts from this year and I noticed I've only posted five (FIVE!) outfit pictures all year. I have decided to rectify this so here is todays outfit......

Dress: Topshop
Shoes: Aldo

.....I love this dress, usually I would have a belt on with this kind of dress but there is this lovely cut out detail in the back. I'm not a fan of these kind of photos but as I have no other camera at the moment this will have to do! Now I'm off out for dinner this evening, I'm thinking tapas om nom nom!

Cracking!

As I mentioned yesterday the fabulous P came over to help me hang my new mirrored wardrobe doors. Thankfully he knows Ikea furniture well and instead of having take all the hinges off (like I was going to try and do) he just unclipped the old doors and swapped that little bit of the hinge over to the new doors.....genius! Unfortunately one of the doors was cracked across the middle but I called Ikea and a new one is on it's way to me on Thursday.

I love how the doors look and it makes the room feel huge (the room is already huge I know but it feels like I've doubled the space.....which I kinda guess I have). Once the doors were in place it was time to get cracking on my next project......

I've been buying Gil Elvgren calendars for a few years now and I've never thrown them away because they are far too beautiful to just end up in the bin. I'd planned to use them to wallpaper the inside of my old wardrobe doors when I bought them from Ikea two years ago but thankfully I never got around to it, if I had they'd be out now! With one of the mirrored doors broken I couldn't decorate the outside of them with the decals like I'd planned to this evening so I decided to start on the inside.....

........plain grey and boring to begin with but with a bit of spray mount and the application of some of the different calendars and prints I've accumulated over the years and my vision started to become a reality......

.......I bought the Playboy poster from eBay and I also found these amazing catalogue pages on there too. They are fashion pages which ladies could browse to make their shopping choices for the coming season, they have small fabric swatches on them and the sizing and pricing guides. I've had them for years but I've never been too sure what to do with them, when I was getting all the bits together for this project it suddenly dawned on me that these would be perfect! I got the spray mount shaken and off I went.......

......I didn't want the arrangement to be too precise so I decided to wing it and just start applying the different pictures as they came to hand. This is a great idea in theory but I should have started at the top and worked my way down rather than the other way around (it's much easier to paste over someones boots/feet and have it look ok rather than have to paste over their head!)......

......I kept adding different pictures but I tended to pick the smaller ones because I was worried I'd run out of the bigger ones........I have a feeling it's going to end up being the other way around! I decided to work around the hinges and door handle which meant I ended up with some odd shaped gaps but I'd also found some Vargas Pin Up Girl playing cards on eBay a while ago and they turned out to be the perfect size to fill in the gaps......

About an hour later this is the finished result and I love it! So, one door down and seven more to go. It's going to take me a while to get them all finished and they will all end up looking very different (many more fashion pages and bigger pictures on the next one!) but I'm so pleased with the finished product!

Here is one of the fashion pages in all it's glorious detail......

A close up of a Vargas playing card (I have the Aces and Joker up on my wall here).....

Finally a close up of one of the larger pictures.......

.......so what do you think? Do you decorate the insides of your wardrobe doors (I've always had something up on them....usually articles from fashion magazines on how to organise your wardrobe!) or do you think it's a waste of time and gorgeous artwork to have it hidden away?
