Everything Is 20/20 With Hindsight

Hey Peeps!

First off it's New Years Eve how did that happen? 2013 has been interesting to say the least, there have been ups, downs and on the odd occasional weird sideways jerky movement that knocked me for six a bit. All in all though it has been rather fun with some amazing highlights..... I've opened my own business and actually received orders (it's such a thrill that someone wants to buy something I've designed!), brought home my darling kitten Chiana and watched some amazing friends celebrate their weddings to mention just a few. The lows were just that, low but I won't dwell on them. They all happened for a reason and in the end were probably for the best.....'nuff said. The sideways jerky movements.....well I've always liked roller coasters!

I really haven't updated this blog as often as I should have but that is typical me (something I'm trying to work on) but here are my highlights of 2013....
......wearing my own designs out in public, having a hair do that didn't involve hair extensions for the first time in nine years, messy nights out with the fabulous Miss C along with the fabulous Miss J Bear and Miss A, the rather amazing quilt handmade just for me by Mama, Kittenish Behaviour  photo shoot with Papa, the first Kittenish Behaviour photo shoot with Amber and Miss L, the Addiction dress in all it's glory and finally the beautiful Miss Chi(ef).

2014 is going to be an amazing year with some huge changes (still ever so slightly scared but I'm taking that as a good sign) and I can't wait! Oh and I promise I have been wearing a dress everyday this month except for Boxing Day when, as a household, we didn't get out of our PJ's, fabulous!

The Dark World

Hey Peeps!

Mum, Papa and I have just got home after watching Thor and it was bloody brilliant! Although I'm a bit confused by it all I do know that I enjoyed it. Tomorrow we are all (yes the kitten included) off down to Worthy Down for the Christmas Ball and then it's on to the Island which I am very much looking forward to. Lot's of roasts, Aga toast and card playing are in my future, citin!

Today I wore this little lot.....
Dress: Trashy Diva (shortened by moi)
Jumper: Topshop
Shoes: Office

.......I'm really liking wearing skinny jumpers under my Summer dresses although as it's getting colder I'm starting to get really chilly even at home, might be time to invest in some thermals!!

Where Are All The Green Shoes?

Hey Peeps!

Another busy day of errand running and crafting for Papa and I, which was lovely if a little windy. Christmas cards are finished, Big Birds pressie is well on it's way to being completed, oldest nephews is wrapped and ready to go.....only about twenty more to go.

Todays outfit was this little lot....
Dress: Trashy Diva (shortened by Moi)
Caridgan: Oasis
Shoes: Dorothy Perkins

.....I did feel a little like a Christmas tree in this outfit but that is definitely season appropriate! When it came to choosing the shoes I noticed a lack of green high heels in my collection.....I only have one pair of peep toes and one pair of glittery boots! I know, it's shocking isn't it? How have I let this come to pass? Oh I just noticed the pair of green leaf sandals from Office....and theres another pair over there that have green stripes......hmmmmm. I'll rephrase; I don't have any winter appropriate green shoes....scandalous! Once the shopping ban is over this will definitely have to be rectified.

Icicle!

Hey Peeps!

Another quick post today. Papa and I have had a very busy making and assembling many (MANY) Christmas cards which was a lot of fun once we got into the rhythm. We also put together the final piece of furniture for my room which means bar one pair of curtains and hanging pictures, my room is finally finished....it only tools six months, that's normal right? Room tour soon (my favourite kind of YouTube clip!).

Mum had to get up stupidly early (6.15am is not natural) for a meeting in Birmingham this morning and then only had an hour with us this evening before heading out for a business dinner at the Ritz! It's off to work for her again tomorrow and another lunch on Friday but those three days of work have meant the parental units got to come home for three(isn) weeks this December so yay!

Todays outfit was this....
Dress: Love
Jumper: River Island
Belt: Topshop
Boots: Faith

.....for about five minutes before I cracked and put on as many layers as I could whilst still being able to walk! It's so cold in my house......brrrrrr. I shall definitely be investing in some type of heater otherwise I'll turn into an icicle!!

Pink Fizz

Hey Peeps!

A very quick post today. My folks have arrived in the UK for their Christmas break and we started off their holiday with a trip to the Harrods seafood counter which was amazing as always. We had a rather lovely bottle of the pink fizzy stuff to accompany our meal which went down a treat. Lots of shopping was indulged in and we have come home with pillows, chocolate and biltong!

Todays dress was this little number....
Dress: Trashy Diva at Kittenish Behaviour
Jumper: Miss Selfridge
Belt: Accessorize
Boots: Office

.....which is available in very limited numbers at Kittenish Behaviour. I love the Trashy Diva dresses for summer and a big plus is that they work so well in the winter with little jumpers underneath too, bonus!

Lucky Dress

Hey Peeps!

It's Dressember, how exciting! My Christmas tree is up, my advent calendar is out and the shops are selling Christmas biscuits, bliss. I have all my Christmas presents under control too which is very unlike me. Everything that needs buying is bought and I now have the next twenty three days to make the rest of the pressies which is totally doable and going to be so much fun.

Yesterday I finally completed my first By Hand London Anna dress which I have christened The Lucky Dress (how lovely is the four leaf clover fabric?!)....
......which I absolutely love! I really wanted to make this dress after seeing all the gorgeous variations floating around on the interwebs (especially Dolly Clackett's many iterations...I have the biggest girl crush on her). The pattern is very easy to put together and the By Hand girls have a great step by step sewalong to help with any little issues that may arise.
I started out by tracing the size 4/8 and then doing the FBA (thats Full Bust Adjustment BTW) adding the extra 3" I need. I then lengthened the bodice by 1" which worked brilliantly for the muslin, rather stupidly though I decided to only muslin the bodice and just wing the skirt....ooops! The finished hip measurement for the size 4/8 comes in at just under 43" which just fitted my 42" hips and I got as far as sewing in the zip and finishing the back seam before I decided that it just didn't suit me, I wanted a fuller skirt. So out came the stitch ripper and I unpicked the skirt (and skirt lining), ordered myself another 1.5 metres of the fabric and used a Kittenish Behaviour skirt pattern to get the look I wanted.
I decided to add a waist band as I knew the bodice pleats and skirt seams wouldn't match up, this also helped my with prettying up the insides. When I make my next Anna/KB hybrid I'll only lengthen the bodice by half an inch I think because with the waistband it's just a little too long (but I'll be damned if I'm unpicking it all again!).
I had originally lined the whole dress but I didn't have enough lining for the second version of the skirt so I french seamed all the skirt seams instead. I finished the hem with some fairly stiff bias binding which I blind hemmed by hand (this is when I curse my love of floaty circle skirts.....profusely) and voilà my first Anna frankendress!

I love it and will definitely be making some more in this style, I think I'll also try grading between the hip measurements and see if that helps me like the originally Anna skirt on me (I really want a maxi version of the Anna and I think the KB skirt in maxi form would be WAY too much!).  So, what do you think?

This Week I Have Been Mostly...#9

Hey Peeps

I've had a lovely week which has included long overdue catch ups with friends, yummy sushi, more Ed's milkshakes, a trip to the cinema and the awesomeness that was Dr Who! I'm a very happy bunny indeed.
Spoilt rotten (yes that is a Big Bang Theory Tee) / more liquorice than I can possibly eat / Christmas biscuits!
New light fitting / Bear Onesie / Westfield decorations
Blissed out Chi / Leather samples for new shoes / Nesting Chi
On Saturday the fabulous S and I wandered around Westfield White City indulging in a little bit of shopping (S not me, I haven't bought anything since the 11th March!) and a lot of gossiping before we went to see Gravity, which was totally awesome....go watch it! I then headed home to get myself comfy on the sofa ready for the Dr Who 50th anniversary special which was all kinds of brilliant. I never really considered myself a Whovian before but given how excited I was for the special I think I have to add it to the list of fandoms I belong to.....

Scaper/Browncoat/Trekkie/Whovian

.....(there are more but that list could really get very long) and proud! On that note I think I'll bid you all goodnight before I start fangirling about the 10th and 11th Dr's together on the same screen....swoon!

Wish List Wednesday

Hey Peeps!

So when the Bestie and I sorted through my wardrobe (again) a few weeks ago it became glaringly obvious that whilst I have some amazing things I do also have some huge gaps, for example I don't own a standard pair of black trousers (I do have an amazing pair of high waisted flared black trousers which I made and love but they are definitely not something to be whipped out for everyday wear) I also don't own a LBD, a black pencil skirt, black court shoes, black flat shoes or black flat boots! Yes, it's true, my wardrobe mainly consists of colours and patterns. It's not that I don't like black clothing.....my favourite cardigan (which I stole borrowed from Mama) is black, as is my favourite coat but I'm such a magpie that when I'm out shopping black just gets overlooked and I take home all the shiny things! With this in mind I have decided to make myself some amazing basics that will go with everything and first thing on the list is a little black day dress....watch this space.

Todays wish list items have all come from Etsy, one of my favourite websites.....I can spend hours on there (same with Pinterest) drooling over all the lovely handmade goodies. Here are some that have been very high on my wish list for a long while now...
 Trouers / Bag / Hat / Cape

.....the trousers are gorgeous and as they are handmade to your exact measurements you know you are going to get a perfect fit. The bag......le sigh.......the bag......I need, I WANT! It's so beautiful and will fit everything I carry around in it. At the moment I have a separate laptop bag for my 17" beast (which has just come back all shiny and fixed from the Geniuses at Apple, I felt lost without it) with this lovely I wouldn't need two bags and it's bloody gorgeous too, brilliant! I adore this crochet hat (I have it in black) and I think this colour would look great with my current red hair. Last but definitely not least is this wonderful cape which I have been eyeing up for over two years now. Winter clothing requires layering and I have some amazing jumpers that I just don't wear because I can't get any of my current coats over them! Also I have a rather large collection of elbow length gloves which again don't really fit under my current coats. This cape is amazing and even though it's not my usual silhouette it solves all the layering/glove issues and I'm totally in lust with it. Just a subtle hint to anyone wondering what to get me for Christmas this year......Etsy vouchers please!

Blustery Day

Hey Peeps!

It all went a bit quiet over here again didn't it. I could give you a list of excuses reasons why but they aren't that interesting (ill again, anyone want to swap bodies with me?) and frankly you've heard it all before!

So, moving swiftly on.....I won new shoes! How exciting is that? Given that I haven't bought any shoes (or anything else for that matter) for over ten (TEN!) months it's very exciting indeed. If you have never heard of Upper Street Shoes may I suggest you head over there now and have yourself a quick look.......are you back yet.....hmmmmmm possibly should have given you the link a little later on......oh there you are! Yes aren't they fab? Well tomorrow morning I'm booked in for an appointment at their showroom where I get to try on the basic shoe styles then drool over the MANY different swatches trying to narrow them down into one gorgeous design that will then be made especially for Moi! How did I win the beautiful shoes I hear you cry? Simples! All I did was post a picture of my most fabulous shoes on Instagram with the hashtag #shoesdaytuesday ! I suggest you do the same.

In other news I had the Small Girl Type Creature and her Boyf "Tiger" come down to London for a visit recently. Day one was spent at my pad sorting through the huge wardrobe (she walked away with three mahoosive bags of goodies) and then we headed down to Bodeans for some scrummy pulled pork which was amazing as always. Day Two consisted of a trip to Ed's (which is one of my favourite places ever), a Japanese anime store, M&M world (odd and too hot), Hagan Daaz (amazeballs) and finally snacks and drinks on The Tattershall Castle which is one of the boats along the Thames. These boat pubs are fab; you feel ever so slightly tipsy before you've even had a drink due to the currents and tides and that makes for an interesting evening indeed, plus of course the views. I decided to wear this little lot for the days adventures....
Cardigan: Oasis
Dress: Dorothy Perkins
Necklace: Forever 21
Tights: Dorothy Perkins
Boots: Faith
Ring: Grandmama

......I clearly love these boots and this cardigan, they've been featuring quite a bit recently haven't they? I also love this dress although wearing it on a blustery day wasn't the smartest of moves......"Hello! Here is my underwear!".....matter of fact the red Tom Ford lipstick probably wasn't the greatest idea either but you know what....sod the weather!

Finally you may have noticed me clutching my mobile in all of my recent blog photos and that's because there is a nifty little app that turns said mobile into a remote for my camera, very handy. Well I decided to switch things up a little bit and try out the Samsung Galaxy S4 instead of doing my usual "ooooo Apple have a shiny new product out.....I want the shiny new product.....no wait thats wrong.....I NEED the shiny new product" and you know what, I'm loving it. I was always a little concerned about the size (I have an iPad I don't need a phone that big) and, you know, it wasn't an iPhone but it's fab. Very light weight, intuitive to use and easy to customise to your personal taste. My only criticism is the lack of memory on the phone itself but I bought a 64GB micro SD card and now I can carry around all my photos, music and audiobooks, sorted! I'm sure I'm not using the S4 to it's full potential but then I don't think I ever did with my iPhone either. All in all it does what I want it to do and it looks pretty whilst doing it, I like.

Breaking The Rules

Hey Peeps!

How is everyone today? I've had a rather lovely afternoon at one of my favourite locations in central London The Only Running Footman which is a tiny little pub that does really amazing food. I was there for a first date so I decided to wear this little lot...
Dress: Trashy Diva at Kittenish Behaviour
Cardigan: Oasis
Belt: Dorothy Perkins
Shoes: Dorothy Perkins

....which I thought was dressy enough without being over the top. I love this dress and with the right accessories I think it can totally be worn at this time of year. I'm even thinking of adding a jumper under the dress when it gets a little colder just so I can keep wearing it (I stock it in pink too in case you were interested.....).

I've always been a firm believer of getting straight back in the saddle (metaphorically speaking mostly but I do occasionally ride horses) and if I've been hurt I do tend to dive straight back into the dating world because it's a good distraction and as I've said before you never know whats going to happen! When I met up with the fabulous Miss S on Sunday she asked me if all the dating disasters I have experienced had put me off dating, well clearly not but when I really thought about it I realised I had imposed some rules on myself. No short guys, no younger men and no commitmentphobes (easier said than recognised that last one)! All well and good in theory but you never know what life is going to throw at you so you really shouldn't rule anything out......except for illegal stuff, that you can avoid like the plague. You know what? Ignoring my rules led to a lovely afternoon spent chatting and laughing with a fab fella who I will definitely be seeing again! Huzzah!

This WeeK I Have Been Mostly.... #8

Hey Peeps!

So this past week was rather lovely. I'm 100% better and no longer coughing, so much so I actually managed to bounce around this morning! I got a surprise visit from the Bestie on Friday which was fab, we gossiped, ate chocolate eclairs and then sorted out my wardrobe some more. I think I ended up removing about thirty things which makes me feel much better but it does also mean the dreaded eBay pile is getting bigger.....urgh! I need to keep reminding myself that the money I make from it will be used to buy yummy fabric for new dresses which will (hopefully) give me the incentive to sit and list.

This week has mostly been a Chiana week on Instagram it seems...
Small as possible / I'm comfy...honest
Praying Mantis paws / Clean washing
...she's nearly six months old and I still can't quite believe I have her. She is the funniest little thing, every time she runs or jumps she has to make noises...it's like she has her own theme tune (if you've seen the Emperors New Groove that will make sense). She is also a total scaredy cat anytime anyone new comes over she decides the only place she wants to be is sitting behind me...unless the new person is in my room, in that case she'll sit on the highest object she kind find and stare at them (especially if they are in her spot!). Anyway enough gushing about my kitten!

Today I am off to meet the fabulous S for hot chocolate and gossip which I am very much looking forward to. We are both huge geeks with a shared love of Firefly and cats so of course we get on! I decided to wear this little lot today....
Cardigan: Oasis
Shirt: H&M
Necklace: Galibrady
Belt: Dorothy Perkins
Skirt: Topshop
Tights: Dorothy Perkins
Boots: Faith

.....which is an outfit I've had planned for a while now and I really like it. I bought the shirt last year and it's been stuck in my wardrobe with the tags on since, no idea why I've not worn it before. I bought it because of the cute lace detail and I loved the colour then I seem to have forgotten about it! The wardrobe clean out with Tatty has refreshed my memory on all the lovelies I own but it also highlighted some gaps that need filling (most of which were listed on my exception to the shopping ban post so thats a bonus!) need to start tracking those items down!

The Oddness of Boys or He's Just Not That Into You

Hey Peeps!

I thought I would share some of my random brain thoughts with you today and something that has been floating around my prefrontal cortex quite a bit of late is the oddness of boys! Now I started dating my very first boyfriend at the ripe old age of fifteen which means I have been in the dating game for a whole nineteen (!) years and I'll let you into a little secret.......boys are weird (not saying girls aren't because we are....totally)! Now I am sure that most you know this already but I thought I would share a few of my experiences on the subject......here goes.......

Example One: A previous boyf was kind, generous and on the odd rare occasion actually quite funny but he had the complete inability to verbalise his feelings in any way shape or form. After eleven months together the most he ever said was "I care about you a lot" (promptly followed with "but you're not a priority") and it wasn't until after we had broken up that the "L" word was even uttered. Said boyf was a firm believer that actions speak louder than words and that was that. If I couldn't interpret the way he felt about me from how he acted then mores the pity in his opinion. All well and good I suppose if he was treating me like an important part of his life but I was definitely an afterthought and he'd told me himself I wasn't a priority. I am the kinda girl who likes affection both physical and verbal and the longer it went with him saying absolutely nothing and treating me the way he was the weirder it got for me and the more I withdrew from him! I do agree that "words are wind" and ever so easy to utter but to hear nothing affectionate at all over eleven months......odd!

Example Two: An ex boyf of mine who I remained friends with until recently seemed to only be romantically attracted to me when I was off the market and dating someone else. I say this because it's been the case three times now. Actively pursuing me until the minute I become actually available and then all interest disappears and weirdness ensues. Odd.

Example Three: Another ex boyf/fling of mine got in touch a few years ago and has, randomly, over the years been asking for a catch up which honestly I would have liked but for one reason or another I never actually agreed to until recently. The minute I said yes and set a date weirdness ensued and suddenly other plans materialised and any attempt on my part to reorganise the catch up was met with vague non answers. Odd (He's since been in contact about once a month via text...which I have been ignoring, honestly life is too short!).

Example Four: I met someone rather dishy earlier this year who I immediately hit it off with, lots of banter, lots of laughter and lots of kissing. We exchanged numbers and agreed to meet up for a second date which also went (I thought) rather swimmingly. Now when I first met him he had broken up with his ex a week before and he waited (four days) to ask me out on our second date to ensure that everything was 100% finished with her as she wasn't taking things too well which I thought was rather lovely of him. After our second date we made plans to meet up again and the banter continued until I got a message saying that he needed to rain check our plans as his ex was still very unhappy and he couldn't morally date someone else with that sill going on. Me being me I replied politely that I understood and would rather have 100% of his attention than a him distracted by someone else (which was true) but I was a little confused. If he'd been with his ex for years I would totally understand the amount of time he was allowing her but they had been together for four months. I came to the conclusion that he "just wasn't that into me" and moved on but.......odd!

Example Five: I was dating someone recently for about two months (fabulous boy Mr McFly) and everything was going great until the morning of a trip up to Manchester. I sent a text saying the hotel was booked and got a reply saying we need to chat before the trip and could he come back over (he'd come over for dinner the night before). Turns out that he'd been thinking about the boyfriend/girlfriend thing and his gut reaction was "argh relationship"! Apparently he though I was awesome, loved spending time with me and couldn't imagine not having me in his life but not as his girlfriend! Perhaps a cinema buddy that he fancied......his suggestion! Now to be clear I hadn't been pushing the bf/gf issue, it had occurred to me and I was happily heading in that direction but hadn't verbalised these thoughts as yet (I hadn't felt the need as everything was going swimmingly). Mr McFly did say that he wanted sometime to cool off and try and work out if it was an initial "argh relationship" knee jerk reaction or if it was us specifically that was the problem which I initially agreed to but I ended up calling it a day because who wants to hear twice that someone really doesn't want to be with you! I think Mr McFly is awesome too and hopefully we'll end up as friends....eventually! Still......ODD!

I was talking to my friend L about all this and she asked if I had read He's Just Not That Into You which in fact I had (I think it came free with Cosmo a few years back) and it got me to thinking. I grabbed myself another copy and had a look. You know what I'm sure there are exceptions to the rule but if a guy is not treating you well and not making you feel loved, not calling you when you are available, cancelling plans last minute, giving you excuses as to why he can't date you just now or is actually telling you he does not want to be your boyfriend then....
.....simple as!

Seems obvious no? I tell you what though I never fully appreciated it for the whole nineteen years of dating that I have enjoyed (because I have enjoyed most of it) until now. Yes relationships are hard work, they need effort and attention if they are going to work but it has to come from both of you! What do you guys think? I'd love to hear!

Wish List Wednesday

Hey Peeps!

So remember me saying that I was going to be jumping back into my 30 Day Challenge on Monday......yeah.....well that didn't happen. This stupid cold will not budge which is ridiculous! I'm fed of whining about it though (and I'm sure you are fed of hearing about it) so I'll shut up on that front for now.

Anyways.....I always love reading wish list posts so I thought I would share some of the things I've been drooling over this week....
Oasis Red Cable Polo Dress £50 / Aspire Closet Tartan Dress £49
.....I adore jumper dresses and this Oasis one is gorgeous (and it comes in navy too) and this tartan lovely from Aspire is fab, they both have the silhouette I love and I think would be easy to layer up as it gets colder so they'd take me through till Spring.....le sigh.....shopping ban.

I've also been on the hunt for fabric so I can make myself some new clothes and I think these are this weeks favourites....
Tartan / Clover / Mermaids / Strawberry
...I love the colours in this tartan cotton I'm not sure what I would make out of it as yet but like I mentioned tartan is something I've been drooling over so it had to be added to the wish list. The gold four leaf clover design is so pretty and green is my favourite colour I'm thinking a mini circle skirt or perhaps a whole dress? Now you all know of my love for Alexander Henry pin up girl prints (Barbarella anyone?) and this mermaid one is gorgeous, I would probably use the same style as the Barbarella dress as the simple lines allow for perfect placement of the pin ups (try saying that three times fast!). Lastly this strawberry and ladybird print cotton is so cute, the pattern runs along the grainline so I'm thinking the By Hand London Anna bodice with a gathered skirt featuring the blue stripe. That would be a very summery dress but with the right tights and cardigan I would totally wear it in the winter!

I've been reading a lot of posts recently about how people are packing away their summer clothes and bringing out the winter items. I have never even thought to do this before, I totally agree in principle (there really are some things that should only be worn in certain seasons......winter coats + summer sun = hot sweaty mess) but I think.....in fact I know that the minute I packed something away I would get a hankering to suddenly wear it. I am very lucky that I have lots of storage available which means I don't have to rotate my wardrobe like this......which is a good job really....I can just see myself digging through bags and bags of stuff just to find one specific top! What do you do with your wardrobe at this time of year?

This Week I Have Been Mostly #7

Hey Peeps!

This week has been mostly spent curled up on soft surfaces doing research, eating and cursing stupid viruses that just won't leave! Honestly I'm at my wits end with this stupid cold. The research has been rather fun though and I have lots of new things I'm going to be trying this coming week. This past week however has been a bit of a mixed bag...
Chiana has taken up yoga / GTA 5 action - I stole a jetski / Wise words from Amber
Vintage patterns / More yoga / Logical
Very true / Chiana approved pressie / Chi's new favourite spot
...and I'm very glad to see the back of it! It hasn't been the most fun I've ever had but life is way too short to dwell on the negative and it's also way too short to do something that doesn't feel right.

Anyway moving swiftly on....I'm jumping right back into my 30 Day Challenge tomorrow, the cough has calmed down so hopefully exercising won't turn me into the previously mentioned wheezing heap....if it does then I'll just calm down on the cardio! Wish me luck?

Kittenish Behaviour Look Book

Hey Peeps!

I'm sure colds aren't meant to last this long, it's been well over ten days now......pesky pesky virus, enough already!

Right moving swiftly on.....back in August the fabulous Senhor B suggested making a look book video for Kittenish Behaviour and I of course jumped at the chance. It took way longer to plan than we initially thought but at the end of August we finally found ourselves in an amazingly beautiful location with some rather fancy equipment (steadycam and dolly anyone??) and little old Moi modelling my favourite designs. Here is what we came up with....

.....isn't it beautiful! The best part of this video is that it's completely shoppable! This means that if anything catches your eye whilst your watching just click on the little spinny icon and it immediately displays the product info, enough to make you want to buy... then just one more click will take you directly to the product page in my shop! How cool is that?

Still Ill!

Hey Peeps!

I'm still ill! My cold decided it was lonely and invited a lovely chesty cough to come and keep it company and that was pretty much my entire week! I have slept, I have eaten and I have finally finished Dexter (two episodes a night over three nights this week means Mr McFly and I are all Dextered out.....I liked it BTW just in case you were interested). Other than that though I haven't been able to do much at all. Exercising has been completely out (wheezing heap on the floor after twenty seconds.....I tried) and photographing myself whilst feeling like this (not mentioning how I look at the moment) has not been something high on my priority list. I have been doing lots of reading/research however (pattern altering don't you know) and putting some of it into practice.....it's been.....interesting!

In other news I have been having a love/hate relationship with my wardrobe recently. Tatty and myself have edited it so many times that it now only has items that I do genuinely love but....I'm not sure they all love me. I like to think that I have an hourglass figure (although at the moment it's definitely having pear shaped tendencies) and I feel happiest when I'm wearing something that accentuates that....hence my love affair with the 50's silhouette. Knowing this about myself in theory means that I should have bought things that suit me and fit in with what I know I like to wear but there are a lot of random items that seem to have snuck in. These are usually online shopping purchases that looked totally yummy on the models and gorgeous when they arrive. I liked the way they look so they get a place in my wardrobe but I never seem to pick them when I'm getting ready. I'm thinking another cull is order and this time I will have to be utterly ruthless.

Unfortunately a cull will mean my pile of "stuff to be eBayed" is going to get larger. I hate listing things on eBay....I can't really tell you why but I do. I currently have two large boxes of clothes and a least twelve pairs of shoes that are waiting to be listed. I should just bite the bullet, pull my finger out and crack on. I've made the decision to start every listing at 99p and if it doesn't sell first time round it's off to the charity shop....more ruthlessness! There is an incentive for me to get listing though....I've decided that any profits I make can be used to buy fabric and patterns for making scrummy new clothes that will be exactly what I want.

For example: I bought this Kate Moss Pansy dress on eBay about two years ago and I've worn it exactly twice in that time. I love the print and I love the style but it's just not quite right on me. Too short, too hippy and too boobtastic when I move but still......le sigh. So I've been hunting out some pansy print fabric I like and trying to find a wrap dress pattern that includes a nipped in waist, full skirt and no ruffle....I'm thinking this combination could be cute....
......I would make the skirt mid thigh length (longer than this Kate Moss lovely so I can actually move about without flashing my unmentionables) and possibly use white fabric for the collar and cuff details to brake up the busyness of the print....maybe. I think this is going to be a recurring project for me now because as I say I do love everything I own but some of it just isn't "right" remaking things will be an interesting and fun way of making sure I do actually wear everything I own rather than just drool over it!

Answers On A Postcard

Hey Peeps!

October did not start as desired, I woke up yesterday with a head full of cotton wool aka a stinky cold, boo! Mr McFly and I had agreed to spend last night catching up on our Dexter watching (only four episodes left!) whilst eating home cooked food and drinking wine. I thought I ought to pre-warn Mr McFly of the viral plague I was currently incubating though just incase he didn't fancy exposing himself but he's made of sterner stuff than I thought and headed over despite the possibility that I was Patient Zero in the next zombie apocalypse! Honestly it's not really that bad just a full head and a feeling of lethargy but I make the worst ill person ever and I'm always convinced I'm dying! I think Mr McFly was quite relieved to wake up this morning and realise I hadn't zombified during the night and bitten him though.

As you are probably aware I've set myself a thirty day challenge and being sick was definitely not part of the plan! Jillian advocates that if your illness is neck up you drag your butt to the gym and just get on with it but the thought of bouncing around feeling like this fills me with dread (more dread than I usually feel before starting a workout!) so I've not. I'm hoping I will be feeling more the thing tomorrow and then it's right back on schedule with Level 2 of the Shred.

There is absolutely no way I was photographing myself whilst I'm feeling like this. I did toy with the idea that Kate uses when she's a bit poorly; photograph yourself in your cutest PJ's just cover your face with your hands (I did attempt to look for an example of this on her blog but couldn't find one amongst all the loveliness)  but I've ended up sleeping all day and on closer inspection I don't own any cute PJ's! This definitely needs to be rectified me thinks, I'm loving this Sewaholic pattern and it fit's in with the creative part of my challenge. Mwahahahaha new PJ's in my future!

So today I thought I would show you a few things that I have been lusting over, these are things that I absolutely love but probably wouldn't have bought even If I wasn't half way through my shopping ban. To start how about these gorgeous dresses from Celeb Boutique....
Rose Gold £125 / Hourglass £120 / Beige & White £120
...the rose gold one on the left is my very favourite of the lot and nearly ended up on my "What I Would Have Bought" list this week.....looking at it now I'm not sure why it didn't! I've also been drooling over these...
Office Red Shoes £20 / Irregular Choice Boots £90 / Kandee Glittery Lips £51 / Office Black Shoes £20

...not buying shoes has probably been the hardest part of this challenge especially when these lovelies have all (apart from those boots) been reduced in the sales. Argh! I NEED them all.......honest. What would be the hardest thing for you to give up, shoes or clothes? Answers on a postcard please!

This Is What I Would Have Bought #5

Hey Peeps!

So I haven't done one of these posts for a while and that's mainly been because I haven't actually been doing that much window shopping! When I started my shopping ban I was drooling over lovely things on my favourite websites pretty much daily but in the last couple of months thats really worn off. I'm not sure if it's because of all the other stuff thats been going on (D. Ramas!) or I just haven't really wanted to look, either way I've not actually missed the shopping.....maybe I'm cured! Nah who am I trying to kid, shopaholics unite wooooooo......!

Anyway, moving swiftly on (clearly the shopping ban has sent me round that final bend and in to crazy town) here is what I've been eyeing up this week....

Oasis Winter Rose Print Dress £65
Miss Selfridge Inspired Metal Bag £40
Topshop Pink Denim Skater Skirt £20
Grand Total: £125

....there were a few other items that had made it onto my Pinterest board but after looking at them again  I decided that these three are what I would actually have wanted to spend money on so I narrowed down the list! Go me! Usually I'd have bought the lot and they'd have ended up forgotten in my wardrobe.

Today I wore my blue denim skater skirt, grey tee and little blue cardigan all of which I love. When I came to photograph them however I couldn't get one picture I liked....out of seventy two! Not one. Hmmm. I did take a few pictures of some details though so here you are....
...Chi being cute, my lovely watch (which I've only just noticed has the wrong date!) and Irregular Choice flats. I think it's very unfair that Chiana takes an amazing picture every time I point a camera at her and yet I really struggle to get just one that I like of myself. Shall try better tomorrow!

This Week I Have Been Mostly.....#6

Hey Peeps!

Yesterday.....hangover from hell, never EVER drinking again! Despite wishing I could stay in my bed curled up in the foetal position, uttering the occasional moan I had more important things to do. My cousin is over from China for a few weeks and had organised a get together in central London which I couldn't miss. Plus Mr McFly was going to be joining us so I had to show my face (he doesn't know my cousins). It was lovely to see my cousins and it didn't kill me which was a very real fear at one point!

So this past week has really been a mixed bag, but thinking about it there has been more good than bad (at least thats how I'm choosing to look at). I've been enjoying blogging more regularly again and even the exercising! The creative element I think has been my favourite though I have a new top, a nearly finished dress and Chiana got a new toy too. I have lots more ideas of things to make this coming week so watch this space!

Here is this weeks round up in picture form...
Chi in her Cat Cave / Swiss goodies / New game
Graze yumminess / Chi protecting me from the worlds largest house spider / Champers
Birthday Love from the Birthday Girl / Evil boys pushed me over / Chiana proving she loves me

.....as usual lots of food and kitten with only a little bit of ouch!

Today I went to the National Home Improvement show at Olympia to watch the Chef do his thing, eat the free food and make yummy noises where appropriate. This wasn't too hard...
...on the left is all the food he whipped up in about twenty minutes and on the right is a dessert platter we shared at The Harwood Arms. After the Chef had finished his demonstrations at the show we snuck out and went to The Harwood for ginger beers and all those yummy things, so spoilt.

I've decided to wear this little lot today....
Cape: Winter Wonderland
Belt: Accessorize
Jumper: Forever 21
Jeans: Levis
Boots: All Saints

...I'm loving this cape at the moment. When it starts to get a bit colder I going to wear it with my extensive collection of elbow length gloves, I have about seven pairs!

The Box

Hey Peeps!

A very quick post today as I'm heading out to shake my funky thang at The Box to celebrate Miss Amber's birthday, whoop. These will probably be the only photos of my outfit as picture taking isn't permitted once inside The Box, what happens in The Box stays in The Box! How many times can you say "The Box" in one sentence?

I decided to wear this little lot....
Cape: A stall at Winter Wonderland
Belt: Topshop
Dress: Celeb Boutique
Shoes: Kurt Geiger

...I love these Celeb Boutique dresses, they really do suck you in and give you curves. Kind of like wearing a Spanx but in pretty dress form, non? I have my stupidly high heels on now but have craftily hidden my comfy flats in my bag for the slightly tipsy return home. Well it's a birthday it would be rude not to get a little squiffy!

Walrus Of Love

Hey Peeps!

So......yesterday. Not a good day.....at all. Nuff said.

Today I'm wearing this little lot...
Top: Miss Selfridge
Leggings: American Apparel
Boots: Kurt Geiger

...I have no idea how I ended up buying this top. I was browsing the Miss Selfridge website and somehow it ended up up in my basket. I'm so glad it did, it's definitely not my usual style (errrr Hello where's your waist?) but I love it, I think it's the lace panel and hint of naughtiness...you can totally see my bra!

So, I haven't told you a dating disaster for a while now.....probably because I was in a relationship for a bit (well, eleven months) and also I hadn't been on any really awful/funny dates in quite a while either. Recently my flatmate Legs introduced me to a new app called Tinder which basically shows you other users of the age range you set within an area you specify and if you both like each other you can start chatting. Now there were five of us sat in my front room having a right giggle liking or discarding potential matches whilst drinking the vino so as you can imagine none of us were taking it too seriously. The other ladies were looking for guys in a certain age range and at one point three of them had liked the same guy who then started a conversation with each of them!

I found a few people I quite liked the look of and one of them happened to be the Walrus of Love as he shall now be known. We chatted a bit for a couple of weeks (I was down on the Island with my folks) and we eventually agreed to meet up for some drinks once I was back on the mainland. So the day of our date arrived and I have to admit I wasn't overly keen...you see I'd been on my first date with Mr McFly the night before and it was amazing (although apparently I need to work on my flirting technique as Mr McFly had no clue that I like him!). I decided that I would still meet up with the Walrus of Love so off I headed. The minute I saw him I knew there was no spark but you can't just turn up, look at someone and say "nah, no thanks!" besides I enjoy meeting new people so I thought an enjoyable evening could be ahead.

The Walrus took me to a wine and cheese bar which was lovely, we found seats, grabbed a bottle and a cheese board and started with the standard get to know you questions that I'm sure happen on every first date. Apparently I'm edgy/alt because I have (had) bright red hair and at the time had my nails painted five different pastel hues, ok then. After about twenty minutes of chatting the Walrus kind of lunged at me for a hug....well thats what he said but I think he was aiming for a kiss....my cheek got slobbered! Even if I had fancied the pants off him this was way too much way too soon, especially as the bar was so busy we were sharing a table with two other couples (nothing more cringey than having the get to know your date conversation when other people can hear you and then having to fend off a random lunge!). I kind of smiled at him and gave him a half hearted pat on the back until he let me go, any boys out there reading this (?) do NOT do this it is BAD!

After we had finished the wine and cheese the Walrus suggested a stroll to another bar along the Southbank, hmmmmm ok. We were wondering along and he grabbed my hand, again WAY to soon for anything like that we'd only known each other for and hour and a half! Instead of heading straight to the bar the Walrus pulled me over to the railings to look out over the Thames, very pretty and quite romantic I guess but I was just feeling on edge from all the inappropriate touching. Unfortunately that wasn't going to stop anytime soon as instead of letting me lean against the railing the Walrus tried to manoeuvre me so that I was leaning on him, errrrr NO! It got to the point where I had to tell him he was being way to forward and to please stop, his reply; "you have too many rules, if I feel something I just go for it!". Dude really? You are going to get yourself in to all sorts of trouble if you carry on like that.

We got to the pop up bar he'd been talking about which was very nice, grabbed some drinks and then went to find some seats outside. Even after me asking him to back off with the touching he tried the classic "Yawn and Hug" technique....again Dude, really? The wine I had was actually awful and I was beginning to feel the effects of staying up and chatting till 5am in the morning (told you it was a good first date with Mr McFly) so I did the "Yawn and Send Yourself Home Early" ploy. I had spent a two hours with the Walrus.

Ok, so you are getting the impression of this date from my side but honestly would any of you say it went well? I didn't think so and after I got home I thought that would be it....oh no. I got a Facebook message the next day asking what I was up to that week, I didn't reply immediately which prompted a "I take it you're washing your hair then" message an hour later from the Walrus! I replied politely that I was indeed busy and I hoped he was going to have a great weekend (he was off somewhere for a jolly). I myself was off up to Glasgow for Mini Ginge and Boaby's wedding which I was very much looking forward to and indeed it was amazing. Around 2.30am on the Sunday I got a couple of WhatsApp messages from the Walrus one of which was a voice recording! Alcohol has much to answer for I know. The next day he messaged again to apologise and claim he had no idea why he sounded so much like Barry White (hence the nickname) by this point I felt justified in ignoring him, all just a bit too weird for me!
